PSA is used to monitor the progression of prostate cancer, but also rich in BPH. When ordering a PSA test as screening and high yields are more likely to have prostate cancer or BPH?

Now that's the kind of question to expect of a contributor! Yes, the PSA is elevated in both conditions, with prostatitis. Not really the PSA level that concerns us is the exchange rate of the PSA. When the PSA is high, should be correlated with physical findings. If you find a multi-nodular prostate is smooth, then it is more probable BPH. If you feel a prostate with a big bang, "then it is likely that prostate cancer and would require (TURNP SP) or a biopsy to distinguish the difference. 80% + cases, BPH is more likely.
