At an early stage of prostate cancer?

My father has just discovered that this is the stage of prostate cancer early. They said that perhaps do not have to have surgery, just radiation. But I'm going crazy. My uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer and its been in the past stages … He had surgery and is now layers. (He came to our house a couple of weeks after her operation and had so much trouble .. even leaking through his diaper. He is an alcoholic and could therefore contribute to that? My parents tell me not to worry because you catch it early. My mom says this is one of the most treatable forms of cancer. And she told me of stories of all those people who had and did not even know .. or have had for years but he died of something else. However, it is supposed to tell me these things to calm down. I'm still scared, cancer is cancer. Possible side effects of radiation that face? Do you have to wear diapers?! And it is more serious than you led me to believe?
