This is for all those who had or knows someone who has had prostate cancer?
A family member recently and the doctor diagnoised returned 3 care choices, surgery, radiotherapy (40) and inplanting radiation seeds into the prostate. I wonder what other people went with treatment and how it worked. Thank you all in advance. doctor told him the pros and cons, gave him a booklet on cancer prostate and details of each treatment. Just curious about others who have dealt with this.
It is a very important decision, one that seems extremely important in the outcome of both the potential and quality of life of family members. My father died of prostate cancer and 5 of his brothers have been diagnosed with it, and now are being processed. In my experience, I strongly advise taking the surgery. Since my father was the first in the family against prostate cancer, we went blindly into the decision process, the surgeon simply following demand for surgery. A deeply regretted. In our case, there was an easy recovery and every 6 weeks. Then Dad became very upset its incountinence and nerve damage and not let him use depends on the existence of sex. The surgeon said that the conditions of these "uncomfortable" would improve time. They did not. I add that my father was only 52 at diagnosis and in very good physical condition, in fact, was behind 5 miles per day. Basically, it had always been able to put your mind to anything and was able to overcome, but the nerve was approximately something that was permanent. We tested all available, but exploratory surgery, nothing can repair any of these conditions. The thing about surgery bothers me is that most surgeons say that the risk of these diseases are minimal and infrequent. In my experience, it is a big lie. Last year, U.S. Today, in an article on prostate cancer, said that 90% of these operations have had some level of damage nervous system causing such problems. My uncles are aware of this and chose the seed implant. They have had success with this option and without side effects. We decided for this seed inside the external radiation, again because of the risk of impotence and incontinence radiation which is external. In his case because the 3 options available, I suppose that family member was diagnosed with stage 3 or below? This may play an important role in forming a support for the doctor's medical treatment. In this spirit, I suggest you seek advice 2nd to get a better idea of what may is your best option. In addition, if the cancer is located, you might consider watching the clinical trials underway in their area of HIFU. I have read many success in the use of this treatment side cutting research. For more information on the local school in your area, you may contact a local Cancer, University Hospital, or visit the NCI Web site www.cancer.gov. Click on the heading of clinical trials and simply fill out the cancer type, stage and postal code information. There are many options out there today, but I think he did the right thing by seeking the best option for a family member. Besides medical treatment, you may suggest some dietary changes too. Cut foods with additives such as reading hormones in meat, dairy, etc. and opting amounts limited to those items when the eco-label Homon free. High doses of vitamin D3 (which can be bought in any store) also showed positive results in the fight against all cancers, but studies have shown a very good response in the delay of cell growth of prostate cancer. I hope some of these tips have helped. Difficult decisions we ahead, but remember to use all resources available to help in these stressful times. Most hospitals offer a support group for Cancer of the prostate, ask a hospital social worker for information on one in your area. They offer lots of information on treatment options, good surgeons and radiologists, are ideal for support and comfort. Good luck in your search. Please, please to contact at any time if you ever have any questions. God Bless!
