What Is Prostol?

Prostol is a dual-action prostate supplement that is said to target prostate inflammation by loading the body with saw palmetto and nettle extract both known to be two potent inflammation reducers. Prostol’s manufacturer has claimed that this process helps decrease urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate or better known as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Its soft gel form ensures these ingredients release into the body faster thus providing quicker relief from prostate and urinary problems.

Prostol Ingredients:

Prostol contains 160mg of saw palmetto concentrate and 120mg of nettle extract. Its other ingredients include gelatin, plant glycerides, glycerine, soybean oil, caramel, titanium dioxide and carmine.

Prostol Effectiveness:

It is possible for this supplement to be effective because during 2002 a review was reported by the American Cancer Society (ACS) that said saw palmetto helped decrease urinary problems caused by BPH reducing urinary difficulty and pain. It was reported too that there was a significant decrease in urinary urges while sleeping thus improving the quality of sleep. Due to this its benefits were compared by some researchers to Proscar a prescription drug used for treating BPH.

This same review also stated that men needed to take at least 320mg or an ample amount of saw palmetto. Prostol was pleased to say that it contains around half of the recommended dosage known to treat BPH. However it was not clear if what they are using was a saw palmetto extract or powder because concentrates are often used to disguise the fact that it is actually a powdered substance that is being used. Condensed powders also often contain fewer nutrients making its efficacy limited.

Consumer Safety:

Most of the time this supplement is safe to use however if you have any allergies to soy I would advise you to avoid taking Prostol because soybean oil can cause an allergic reaction which can lead to hives, throat or mouth swelling, difficulty breathing, and confusion.

Conclusion:

Prostol is known to contain saw palmetto but the problem here is that this prostate supplement does not use enough of this potent extract. To make things worse it is possible that they may be using is a cheaper and less effective powdered substance instead of a pure extract thus resulting to it having less efficacy against BPH. Over all there are better prostate supplements that have a strong proof of what their ingredients contains and that have been proven to work.
