Have a question about the results of a prostate cancer screening…?

When I was a teen my father had stomach cancer. He nearly died, but by God’s grace…he survived. Well my mother let it slipped out today that he had an appt for prostate screening. She mentioned something about the doctor saying his score was an 8 and he needed to come back next month for a biopsy. But once she realized her err, she tried to talk it back and say …oh everything’s ok. Do anyone know what this means….score being an 8??? I don’t want to ask my Father…he hasn’t even mentioned he was being screened………..

PSA blood test is commen prostate screening test.General speaking normal majority men are below 4.00ng/ml,but higher then that is not indicate of cancer because many other prostate condition such as prostatitis or BPH all could show high PSA.That is the reason your dad need biopsy. and your mon not make you worrying..If your dad is real old(75-85) even cancer of prostate is no big deal,he will not died from this.
