Cancer is also known by the medical term malignancy. The disease occurs in a number of different ways in a number of different areas of the body, and kill countless people every year. What is the real risk development of cancer, and what can you do to identify the symptoms of cancer, and even contribute to a cure for cancer?

Cancer is essentially the uncontrolled growth of certain types of tissues or cells. Invading cells which are adjacent to them, preventing their operation normal (which is particularly dangerous in cases of cardiac cancer, brain cancer and lung cancer). Cancers can also spread to parts of body other than its original location, through the lymphatic system or circulatory system. There are several types of benign tumors, they do not invade surrounding tissues, and not spread to other parts of the body, and these are sometimes recognized as a precursor of cancer.

Cancer is incredibly prolific in the world and has never been a singular cause or a single best treatment identified. It is hoped that this year there will be about 2.9 million people in the developed world die of cancer, 5.4 million new cancer cases diagnosed. In the developing world, some 4.7 million people die of cancer, 6.7 million new cases.

The men in developed countries are more often in the prostate, lung and colorectal cancer, whereas in the developing world are more likely to get stomach, lung or liver cancer. The reason for the higher incidence of stomach cancer in men and women in the developing world is that it is caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, while the highest incidence of cancer of the cervix in women is attributable to the prevalence of human papillomavirus.

Since symptoms of cancer vary between different types is important to have significant health problems examined by a professional. Be aware of your family health history, and recognize the symptoms of cancer to those who might be sensitive. Sometimes, seemingly minor things such as difficulty breathing or lack of energy could be a sign of cancer. Other common symptoms are blocks cancer that could indicate a tumor, lymph nodes, bone pain, weight loss, lack of appetite, persistent cough, or excessive sweating, particularly night sweats. A symptom of cancer of the heat is an irregular heartbeat.

The cure for cancer is still the Holy Grail of medicine. However, there is some progress in recent years that promise much more for specific types of cancers, including lung cancer and skin cancer.
