In situ cancer or not?

I had adenocarcinoma in situ. The recommended treatment is hysterectomy. But my doctor always said that we were made to "prevent" cancer. Women with ductal carcinoma in situ has said that surgery to "prevent" Cancer? What happens to spot other cancers such as prostate cancer or colon? I feel that what is rare for a doctor to recommend removal of a body that something "cancer". Why not have a hysterectomy? Because I'm 26 and have kids.
