Chid Abuse of an epidemic in the United States

A statistic in our advertising in local newspapers with very stuck in my head and I started thinking. The relevant statistics of child abuse in my home country of Louisiana and read, € œOver 5280 children were abused in Louisiana last year.â € Wow! A line that caught my attention and the kind of waking this morning. I spent much of the day of the survey child abuse nationally. Here are some facts very real, very scary and very sad and trends in child abuse in the United States.

National Statistics Abuse

Close one million children are victims of abuse or neglect each year. The rate of victimization is 12.3 children per 1000 children. To put this into perspective, the leading cause of cancer among men is cancer of the prostate with a rate of 142 cases per 100,000 men. Similarly, in women the number one cancer is a cancer breast with a rate of 118 cases per 100,000 women. According to the CDC, children 0-3 years is more likely to suffer abuse. Approximately 1 in 50 U.S. infants are victims of abuse serious or neglect each year. Child abuse kills more than 4 children per day, and nearly 80% have less than four years.

The consequences of child abuse are very real and lasting. A population of young adults who were known victims of child abuse have been studied and 80% of them met the criteria of at least one psychiatric disorder in 21 years. Some conditions include depression, anxiety, eating disorders and stress disorders, to name a few.

Teen pregnancy is 25% more likely in children victims of violence children do not suffer abuse. Children are also more likely to become criminals. In fact, there are 59% more likely than juvenile detention and 28% more likely to be arrested as an adult and 30% more likely to commit violent crimes.

Of the male prison population in the United States It is estimated that nearly 15% were victims of abuse or neglect and nearly 37% of prisoners were abused in their childhood. Almost 2/3A ™ € s of people in treatment for drug abuse reported being abused in their childhood

Child abuse creates a recurring cycle of violence of abuse in the United States. Over 33% of victims of child abuse is an abuse of their U.S. children.Cycle abuse. The rate of violence towards children is estimated to be 3 times higher than reported. I hope you can see how this cycle can destroy generations!

Some physical and behavioral signs of abuse and neglect. Those highlighted in bold tend to be signs and symptoms the most common.

Physical signs of child abuse
1. Unexplained burns, cuts, bruises, dents or in the form of an object
2. Bite marks
3. Anti-Social Behavior
4. School problems
5. Fear of adults

Emotional signs of abuse
1. Apathy
2. Depression
3. Hostility or stress
4. Lack of concentration
5. Disorders Food

Signs of Child Sexual Abuse
1. From Inappropriate interest or knowledge of sexual acts
2. Nightmares and enuresis
3. Drastic changes in appetite
4. On compliance or excessive aggression
5. The fear of particular person or family member

Signs of neglect
1. Inappropriate Clothing time
2. Dirty or soiled
3. Extreme hunger
4. Apparent lack of supervision

Together we can make a difference. It begins by adopting a tolerant approach zero child abuse. It is simply unacceptable. Ask yourself, friends and family about the abuse and signs.
