Does taking Tylenol PM to enlarge prostate?

At the age of 73 years, I have an enlarged prostate and sleep disorders. I do not have prostate cancer. After intense exercise, can I use Tylenol PM to help you sleep or is likely to increase my release of the prostate gland?

It will not enlarge your prostate, but added diphenhydramine (which is what differentiates regular Tylenol Tylenol PM) Urinary retention can cause more drowsiness. Almost all antihistamines do the same thing. This increases the pressure at the base of the prostate where the urethra connects and makes sleep even more uncomfortable. In addition, it grows with a rapid tolerance to the sedative effects of diphenhydramine – a week or two regularly. Use within Nevertheless, acetaminophen, Tylenol, or anti-inflammatory such as Motrin, will help the pain. Ask your PCP or pharmacist if appropriate anti-inflammatory for you to take. If you have trouble sleeping at an enlarged prostate, I would recommend herb saw palmetto as an initial treatment (Available without prescription in stores or health food store) – it helps to reduce the size of the prostate and is very popular in many countries Europe for this reason. In fact, it mimics the effects of a little more expensive prescription treatments such as Proscar (finasteride). It also works well as a precribe complement a doctor. If you have difficulty urinating, you should consult a doctor. For the treatment of real sleep, it might be herb valerian (again available without prescription) or visit a doctor prescription.
