PSA test for prostate cancer can save your life

Doctors Pessimistic, having the position that the PSA (prostate specific antigen) detection is not effective in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. They also believe that PSA testing leads men to be unnecessarily stressful. The fact is that PSA screening saves lives, especially when it is detected early cancer of the prostate cancer. I can attest to this fact.

Each year, over the last eight years I have had a PSA test and the results are always the same, 2.0. Throughout the consultation and examination, he repeated, word for word, the first visit with my urologist. I was more than convinced that I made the right decision in committing to radiotherapy.

Before radiation, I had to have a bone scan a few weeks later. What the urologist inserts 3 seeds (or markers) on my prostate. This technique ensures accurate external radiation before the cancer of the prostate. Having successfully completed this procedure, the Institute cancer measurement (simulation) and tattooed me before radiation began. Finally, I was first treated with external radiation – 1 in 38 to do. After began radiation treatments had to repeat the operation five days a week for 8 weeks, no exceptions!

A another person who can attest to the immense success of the PSA test is my brother. He also had a prostate cancer two years before me. Had annual PSA tests and their cancer was caught very early. Since it has an enlarged prostate, a 4th option was used Radiation seed implant.

Current Diagnosis: Four months after radiation, I am in good health, not cancer of the prostate, PSA level of 1.40 and continue to decline over the next 18 months. Two years after seed implant, my brother is healthy, no cancer of the prostate, PSA 0.47.
