saw palmetto?????and no prostate problems?
I am just wondering my husband had a urinary tract infection we thought and so we read about it and read that an enlarged prostate could cause it and I have read all about herbs for reproductive health as we are TTC (trying to conceive) and so my question is… is it ok for him to take saw palmetto to help keep his prostate healthy as we are wanting a baby but as far as we know he doesn’t have any prostate problems. is it still ok for him to take? thanks! I haven’t found anything on google about this yet so I am just hoping maybe some of u can help!
Well, Saw Palmetto is very good for overall prostate health. Some people have used it to strengthen and nourish the prostate enough that they were able to shrink it, but even if a man doesn’t have an enlarged prostate, it can still help to nourish the Prostate and is perfectly healthy and safe to take every day.
That being said, I haven’t seen any research that says Saw Palmetto would help a UTI… but Cranberry and D-Mannose can. Also, SkepDoc is right that UTIs are more rare in men and it would be best to have his doctor check him out to make sure no medical conditions are causing the UTIs that may cause further trouble.
It’s perfectly safe for him to take Saw Palmetto every day and is a very good idea to keep Prostate problems at bay, even after you’ve gotten past this problem. Good luck!
