What does your prostate do?

I often hear talk about prostate cancer and prostate enlargement. What is the prostate supposed to do? Presumably this is not only to develop cancer.

The prostate secretes a fluid that neutralizes the acidity the vagina for sperm will die before reaching the cervix. Interestingly, 100% of men will develop cancer prostate if they live long enough.
