prostate problems?

The problems of the prostate gland is a very common problem among men. An enlargement of the gland prostate is called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Most men over fifty who have either received a diagnosis of BPH or at least have enlargement significant prostate (1). The symptoms of prostate enlargement can include the frequency and / or painful urination, weak urinary stream, difficulty urinate, blood in urine, pain in lower back and chills. Lifestyle can play an important role in prostate health. Obese men are 50% of more likely to have prostate problems (1). If left untreated BPH can cause prostate cancer. Nearly 200,000 cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed annually in the United States and more than 30,000 men will die from the disease each year (2). An enlarged prostate can lead not only cancer, too much can cause damage to kidneys and bladder. The classic medical examination to distinguish BPH from cancer of the prostate is the PSA (PSA specific) blood. High levels of PSA can indicate either BPH or cancer, according to the age of the examinee.

What the prostate do, and why is it important? The function of the prostate is to produce liquid to mix with sperm to produce semen. It is also linked to urinary tract which makes it vulnerable to bacterial infection. Prostate problems may be temporary (acute prostatitis) and are usually caused by a bacterial infection. Bacteria can also cause long-term prostatitis (chronic prostatitis). These infections are usually treated with antibiotics. However, some supplements such as zinc and vitamin C may also be capable of inhibiting a bacterial infection of the prostate.

The prostate gland is strongly influenced by hormones and the environment. There are synthetic chemicals in the environment that can mimic estrogen, including pesticides and plastics. Contact and man with these other products can cause hormonal imbalances. A permanent contact with the materials above can lead to cancer of the breast or endometrium of women domain and the loss of testosterone in men. Testosterone itself is generally a positive and healthy hormone for men, but when men are exposed to estrogen-like substances chemicals for long periods of time, the relationship between testosterone and its most aggressive form, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can be downloaded. DHT stimulates the growth of certain tissues, including prostate, and if DHT levels are raised with respect to testosterone, prostate and even cancer prostate may cause. Stress can also increase levels of DHT.

There are several styles of life and men can make additional changes to help slow or reverse prostate problems. A diet low in fat, drink plenty of fluids and the daily intake of fiber can help prevent or delay prostate problems (1). The exercise is usually good for prostate problems, but the bike can put pressure on the prostate, and must be minimized or avoided completely. Some supplements may help prostate problems significantly. A small study showed that men with BPH who supplemented with large amounts of zinc (150 mg / day) for two months had withdrawn from the prostate to 75% of the time (1). High doses that zinc not be taken for long periods of time, unless directed by a physician.

Herbs and some food May also help improve prostate health. The herb saw palmetto may reduce symptoms of BPH up to 46% when are taken for several months (3). Nettle herb has shown to increase urine output in BPH, probably due to contraction of the prostate (4). The cranberry juice may help prevent bacterial infections of the urinary pathways, which joins the prostate. Pumpkin seeds are a lot zinc, which can help many prostate problems. In addition, oil pumpkin seeds can help reduce inflammation of the prostate. There some evidence that glycine, an amino acid may delay the formation of tumors in some cancers, although not conclusively shown to help prostate cancer (5).
