A new study reveals that treatment of prostate cancer can have adverse effects on cognition in patients
A new study published in the September 2008 edition of Cancer American Cancer Society, found that up to 69% of men who receive treatment hormone deprivation, a widely used treatment for patients with advanced cancer of the prostate, may experience adverse reactions to their capacity cognitive. According to Dr. Christian Nelson, a strong evidence that treatment with hormone deprivation is linked to "subtle cognitive impairment but significant in men with Cancer of the prostate. "
The study, which consists of a literature review of cases of human patients and animals, has been directed by Dr. Nelson, a psychologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and concluded that the therapy of androgen depletion, that patients are chemically castrated to deprive cancer cells to the hormone (testosterone) that drives its growth, may cause a decrease in function Cognitive therapy patients.
Depletion of androgen therapy has been used for several years as a preferred treatment of patients with advanced cancer of the prostate. In recent years, treatment has also been increasingly used for men who are at the early stage of cancer, which is one reason for that treatment effects are of concern.
Most men subject to depletion androgens in the treatment of prostate cancer seen in the treatment of the extent of their lives. Consequently, many effects of the therapy experience such as fatigue, hot flashes, decreased libido, osteoporosis, hot flashes, changes in mood and erectile dysfunction. All, except the last symptoms are much the same as experienced by women in the menopausal stage of life of these.
The study revealed May that testosterone affects cognition in the brain in several ways, one of which is stimulation of neuronal connections. The study indicates that half to almost three quarters of men treated with androgen deprivation therapy showed decreases more often in the wider processes quality, and multi-tasking and processes depends on the spatial ability. Concentration problems and memory loss is evident.
It is clear from the results of this study to other, more detailed studies of androgen deprivation therapy and its relationship with knowledge to better understand the long-term effects of this particular treatment of prostate cancer among men of his reception. However, we think to stop treating prostate cancer based on the possibility of some cognitive impairment should not be a consideration because of the importance treat disease.

How long must we wait before having sex after prostate biopsy?
I recently had a biopsy my prostate. dr. told me to wait at least a week before he ejaculates. I was also told by another person not having sex for a week. as far as I'm concerned, these are 2 different things. Is it still "play", but did not ejaculate? or should avoid trying to get an erection? What problems will arise if the ejaculation in the week.? I will not spoil the healing process. I know he there will be some money And it's not a problem. should I wait for no blood in my urine? or does it matter? waiting impatiently!
Well, taking a real case of blue balls will be uncomfortable. However, I also clog the prostate, as it prepares to do its job, which can be a good thing. The problems may come, I think, and muscle spasms around the prostate and the maximum pressure during ejaculation. My advice is to do what the doc says. This is a week.
