Should I avoid sexual contact or sex if you have prostatitis, and having sex is worse off?

Sorry, but do not really know whether prostatitis is an infectious disease, but hey, I could put it in the wrong category.

Prostatitis: Activity sex can make things worse? Should I avoid sex if I have prostatitis? Does sex make things worse? Answer Erik Castillo, MD have not necessarily to avoid sex if you have prostatitis – an infection or inflammation of the prostate gland. Typically, sex does not aggravate prostatitis, but not get any better, either. While it is fine for most men with prostatitis have sex, some men feel pain during and after orgasm (ejaculation). This can interfere with the enjoyment of sex. Prostatitis is often caused by bacterial infections, but does not usually cause what will be your partner during sex. In rare cases, prostatitis is caused by a sexually transmitted disease (STDs). Do not have sex until you consult your doctor if signs of an STD, such as ulcers on the genitals or abnormal discharge from the penis. To relieve the pain of prostatitis, try soaking in a hot bath. OTC pain relief as aspirin or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) may also help. You may need prescription drugs to treat the underlying cause prostatitis. Prostatitis – and other conditions with similar symptoms – have a number of possible causes. Some of them can have serious consequences if left untreated. If you have pelvic pain, difficulty or pain when urinating, or painful ejaculation, see your doctor. Good day to you.
