Do I need surgery for my enlarged prostate by 33cc?
I am 68 years old. In December 2006, my prostate is enlarged 46 cc urine pus cells 60 to 80HPF, PVR 600 cc which is removed through the tube. In March 2007, my glans of 33 cc of pus cells 10 to 15 HPF, PVR 75 cc Uromax with drugs and antibiotics. My gland to normal with medication more or TURP surgery I need?
Without wishing to offend the answer before, but Saw Palmetto does not do squats for the prostate. It has a compound which could be useful, but it is a small concentration it is useless. Therefore we use Uromax. That said, it really matters not what is the prostate is, assuming that you speak of BPH or enlarged Benign prostate. What counts is the size is to cause problems with urination. If you have enough serious problems with infection or urine then yes, you may very well need a TURP. But if you are relatively free of symptoms, and see good results from your medications, why not opt for surgury. In any case, before accepting such measures simply find another urologist and get a second opinion, as simple as that. Good luck
